Demarcation of work zones in EV workshops
Retractable barriers to mark and cordon off the area around an electric vehicle during high-voltage maintenance. Customised belt with a message and electrical hazard pictogram, stable base, immediate deployment.
The barrier does not isolate the voltage; it marks the perimeter
Electric vehicles operate on 400 to 800-volt direct current batteries. Before working on the high-voltage system, the technical person applies the five golden rules of live-line work. The function of Dsafety™ in this context is not electrical isolation, but rather signage and demarcation: to comply with the fifth rule—demarcating the area and visually communicating that there is equipment inside that is off-limits to unauthorized personnel.
Cordon off the perimeter during lockout, do not electrically isolate it
While the technician performs the lockout—disconnecting the auxiliary battery, removing the service connector, waiting for capacitors to discharge—the work area must already be cordoned off. Dsafety™ barriers deploy in seconds and mark a visible perimeter around the vehicle and the lift.
The worker’s electrical protection is provided by dielectric PPE, procedures, and specific training. The barrier complements the procedure by making the boundary visible to those moving through the workshop.
The printed message is the warning tool
The retractable tape is customised with the electrical hazard pictogram, warning text, and the workshop’s corporate colors. Dye-sublimation printing covers 100% of the surface. Anyone approaching the perimeter can clearly view exactly what type of zone they are entering.
Common messages: "DANGER — High Voltage," "Restricted Area — Work on HV Battery," "Authorized Personnel Only," orange color code for the high-voltage circuit.
Customise belt →Where the belt ends, control begins
Regulation RD 614/2001 stipulates that work involving electrical hazards must be performed only by authorized and trained personnel. Barriers are placed leaving a defined opening: that opening is the access point, where the supervisor verifies the worker’s identity and dielectric equipment before allowing entry.
Can be combined with A4/A3 poster holders to display the vehicle’s rescue sheet, the lockout procedure, and the identification of the technician responsible for the disconnection.
